Whether you’re pondering over your new kitchen design or just trying to imagine what your dream kitchen might look like, sample boards are a fantastic way to visualise just what you’re looking for. Whether you’re unsure of what colours, finishes or even textures you’re looking for, by creating a sample board it allows you to get a feel for what you want for your new space in a more tactile and interactive way than just looking at colours online.

A quick and easy way to visualise

Not only do we love how quick and easy it is to see how well different samples go together by simply putting them next to each other and layering them, but by being able to explore so many possibilities so quickly you might find yourself discovering a combination that you wouldn’t have thought to consider. That’s the fun of mixing and matching!

Collaborate together

Another great thing about sample boards is because they’re so interactive they can be a really great way to help make it a collaborative process. It can be an excellent way to get your partner or family involved by you both suggesting samples, seeing how they look together, taking into consideration everyones opinions. It’s a great excuse to involve everyone in the process, even getting the kids involved by suggesting colour combinations making them feel like they’re contributing to your new family space in an easy and productive way.

Envision your new space in person

Perhaps my favourite and most important thing about sample boards is that it allows you to see all these different colours and textures in person. What may look one way online, may look more matt or a different shade in reality. I also think it makes you consider the texture of things more, something that can often be overlooked when  picking out combinations. This is not only useful from a design point of view but also helps you get to grips with how easy certain surfaces will be to clean.
