About Us

Robert’s passion for kitchens began when he left school at 16 and trained to be a chef. He worked at the prestigious Hertfordshire country club, Brockett Hall, where he worked across three kitchens and learned from some wonderfully talented head chefs. He not only learned to cook, but also learned some valuable lessons about creativity, presentation and quality.

In his next job, Robert began working with a kitchen fitting company, where he discovered a natural flair for the carpentry expertise required, and took great pride in the quality of finish for every job he worked on.

At the age of 28, Robert decided the time was right to set up his own kitchen business. He knew his exerience of both working in a kitchen as well as fitting kitchens gave him a unique perspective on the best design, layout and features that would make his kitchen designs truly great.

On 22nd February 2014, Catherine, Robert’s wife, gave birth to Jacob. He was still-born with a fatal anomaly called ‘lethal skeletal dysplasia’. This untreatable condition results in babies being born prematurely, still-born or dying shortly after birth from respiratory failure. Catherine and Robert spent the night with Jacob before making the decision to donate his body to medical research, as they wanted some good to come from the heart-breaking situation. Through their own loss the couple re-evaluated their lives, and were determined to honour Jacob’s memory. Surrounded by their family who offered support in the time after Jacob, it became clear to them that they could help to bring other families together by focussing on open plan living spaces and felt that re-branding the kitchen business with their son’s name at the helm was a great way to achieve this, and Jacob Roberts Interiors was born. In the years since 2014, the couple have gone on to have two beautiful girls, Francesca & Rhiannon, and Catherine has joined the family business too.

It is this vision and his belief of how important family is, that drives Robert’s stunning designs. He specialises in open plan living and along with his trusted trade partners is able to offer design, fitting and full project management services, bespoke to his customers’ needs.

Robert is also author of The Lifestyle Kitchen.
