When rethinking your kitchen one of the last things for you to consider after the layout, materials and appliances is the colour of your new space. For many of us, we already have a preconceived idea of what our perfect kitchen will look like, especially if you’re an avid Pinterest user, but one thing that many of us may not have considered is how colour can affect the overall mood of your room.

White is one of the most classic colours for a kitchen, it’s sleek, timeless and modern all rolled into one. With its “less is more” appearance, white can help make even the smallest of spaces feel more light and open. It’s also associated with the idea of youth, making your new area appear just as fresh as it was when it was first built as time goes on. A good tip for a white kitchen is to also pick an accent colour to pair with it to add further personality to your space, this could include anything from a coloured splashback to an exposed brick feature wall.

Black is another popular choice. Noted for having an aura of elegance, it is often posed as just as timeless as white. Although black can be quite an imposing colour to add to a space, used effectively it can add an element of depth and drama to a room. Black is also associated with the idea of wisdom, perfect if you’re aiming for that sleek, practical look, especially if you consider a matt black finish. A good thing to note about black is that a lot of appliances are available in this colour, making them easy to seamlessly blend into your space.

Blue has become a popular choice in recent years with it bringing a pop of vibrancy to your space that isn’t as overwhelming as something such as orange. Associated with tranquil serenity, blue can add a sense of calm to any room, perfect if your kitchen is a family space for downtime. Its obvious link to water also suits the theme of a kitchen, pairing nicely with other cool toned units such as whites or contrasted with a warm wood worktop.

Green isn’t the most obvious choice for a kitchen but with the recent trend for succulents, the idea of bringing an element of the outside inside is more apparent than ever. Green has often been linked with ideas of hope and luck but more recently adding a sense of ambience to a room. Depending on which hue you choose can also impact whether or not you’re aiming for more of a fun space perfect for entertaining – that would work excellently with lime green – or a more calm atmospheric space – such as hunter green (which happens to be one of the trending kitchen colours for 2019!)

Another one of our favourite jobs, a bright welcoming space in which the whole family can relax in. We love the bright pop of red seating.

Red, hands down the boldest colour on our list, is known for being linked to passion, danger and strength. It’s is definitely a bold choice but for the risk takers amongst us the end statement is well worth it. Red can add an element of energy into a space, encouraging courage and hospitality. An excellent choice if you’re a keen host. Our new shaker display in the showroom will give you an idea of how amazing a bold colour can be when paired white more neutral tones.

In conclusion

All in all, whether you’re looking for something timeless or trendy it’s important to note what kind of atmosphere your aiming to create in your new space, whether that be upbeat and full of energy or your perfect place of calm.
