For most of us the kitchen is a vital part of our home. We’re in and out of it all day, with its floors and surfaces witnessing our daily family life.

As one of our most important places we naturally want to make sure it looks perfect, fitting our aesthetic and lifestyle. We may think about decorating the space as a feature of the house rather than thinking about it as the piece of art that it should be.

At Jacob Roberts, much like a painting in the sketching phase, our designs look and evolve with the artist or in our case the designer. We want our designers to have fun working out the space and ergonomics of the kitchen, thinking about the perfect textures, materials and colours for our clients, enjoying seeing the piece come together.

We believe that kitchen design should not just be a matter of dragging and dropping in the units you want into the room. It should be about getting a feel for what kind of atmosphere you want to create for your kitchen and ultimately your home. Each decision should be a well thought out masterpiece with us striving for perfection on each and every job. There is no ‘that will do’ – it’s ‘wow!’ or nothing for us.

Much like a lot of artists do, we lean towards Pinterest to find ideas and the overall look our clients want for their kitchen. This process allows us to collaborate, letting our clients engage with the designing process. It’s also a great way to gain a visual insight into what exactly you’re looking for in your new kitchen, even if you can’t find the words for it. After all, a picture speaks a thousand words!

Pinterest is also a great resource for keeping up with the most recent design trends, so by using it for inspiration it helps sway the kitchen towards something that won’t look dated, whether that be a tasteful wooden shaker style kitchen or a clean white granite space with accent lighting.

Lastly, like a piece of art, the main thing we want to share is a sense of pride between us, the designs and builders, along with you the homeowner. Each job we do serves as an achievement for us. Every kitchen is a piece of art for us, an installation if you will, that we take great joy in sharing and being a part of.

Over the years we have been lucky enough to work on some fantastic projects. If you’re looking for some inspiration and want to know more you can see a range of examples on our Facebook and Instagram pages or pop into our showroom on Biggleswade High Street and come say hello!
