When thinking about the new year, getting your home organised is usually one of the top things on that list. But where to start? Besides clearing out your cupboards and cleaning everything from top to bottom we’ve got some suggestions to help make your everyday life in your kitchen easier in 2020.

One of our projects with plenty of stylish storage!

A super simple idea that saves time is using clear storage jars. Not only does this help keep food fresh, allowing you to clearly keep track of how much of each product you’ve got left but also looks aesthetically pleasing, perfect if your going for an open shelving look but don’t want all the overly colourful packaging to ruin your look.  This is also a great way to encourage yourself to do zero waste shopping, using zero waste shops to refill your clear storage containers, and only paying for what you need, not all the excess packaging.

Ever heard of pocket doors? If you’ve got narrow walkways in your kitchen you will have wished you’d have sooner. Pocket doors are doors that neatly fold away back into themselves, allowing you to keep them open without blocking the walkway. Perfect for when your trying to prepare food in a busy kitchen that your family is happily hanging out in.

Utilizing the wall space of your kitchen is another excellent way to maximise storage for yourself. Whether your looking at getting a magnetic knife rack or a peg board you’ll be using space that would have previously gone wasted. It’s also a great way to keep tools to hand that you use often, saving you time searching around in cupboards and draws for them.

One reason we particularly love pegboards is because of how versatile they are. You can change them around to suit your needs and switch them around if you change your mind on the layout. An extra tip, putting fresh potted herbs in them can be a great way to add some green to your kitchen.

Draw organisation is something we all know about but also overlook. A cutlery tray is probably the first thing that comes to mind but have you thought about personalised storage for your draws? Need more space for knives or have far too many spoons? By allocating more space for certain things and less for others you can save space and make things quicker to get to now you know where everything is.

Vertical storage is becoming more and more popular with people realising it’s space saving potential, especially when it comes to storing large plates and trays. It also saves the hassle of pulling out those trays that always end up being at the bottom of the stack of plates that causes you to cringe slightly as you pull it out. This type of storage can be implemented inside your cupboards as well as being made into an open shelving feature.

Retractable cupboards also known as slide out cabinets are a clever way to make the most of what might previously seemed like a small cupboard. With clever pull out solutions, not only does this help you collect what you’ve stored without having to reach to the back of the cupboard but also makes it easier to store things neatly.  They are a great thing to consider when planning out your kitchen design, especially if your trying to get as much storage as you can out of your space.

All in all, whether your looking to re imagine your kitchen or just make some small improvements we hope our ideas have helped to inspire you to do just that!
